     Welcome and thank you for visiting Sokol USA Chicago's website!  We are located on the Northwest side of Chicago on Elston Ave, one block north of lawrence at the corner of Elston and Kilbourn.  We have worked out of the Sokol Community Center for over 45 years.  Sokol USA Lodge 306 celebrated 60 years of existence in 2007! 

     Sokol USA Chicago Gymnastics is proud of its tradition in holding up to the ideals of Sokol founders, Dr. Miroslav Tyrs and Jindrich Fuegner.  Those ideals follow the mantra of physical fitness education and culture to achieve "A sound mind in a sound body."

     Our staff of instructors is one of the most highly qualified and experienced in the city!  Our instructors have been USAG safety certified and trained in First Aid and CPR.  They have all been trained by Sokol USA and/or American Sokol by attending National Sokol Instructors Schools and various spotting and coaching clinics held in the Chicago area.

     We employ a coaching philosophy based on progressive gymnastics.  Therefore, the gymnasts are taught to safely progress toward more advanced skills with as little spotting as possible.  The safe use of progressions has proven very successful in our program as evidenced by the dozens of team trophies and individual medals won by our gymnasts over the years!

     Sokol classes offer a great deal more than gymnastics.  Group calisthenics are taught in each class and performed at our annual exhibition, Sokol Day, and National Slet.  (Don't know what a slet is?  Check out our Sokol history page!!!)  Classes also consist of marching, games, singing and other fun activities!  Gymnasts are also given the opportunity to compete against other Sokols from the American Sokol Central District, and at the National "slet".  (Lodge 306 has participated in every National Slet held in the U.S. and Canada since 1947.  Most recently our gymnasts travelled and competed at Sokol USA Sokolfest in Pittsburgh in 2007! CHECK OUT THE PHOTO GALLERY!!)  In June 2009, American Sokol will host a national slet in Ft. Worth, Texas!  Plan on joining and travelling with us!

     Sokol USA Chicago Gymnastics Tech Staff is a subsidiary of Sokol USA Lodge 306 Chicago.  Lodge 306 belongs to the Slovak Gymnastics Union Sokol USA, East Orange, NJ.  Sokol USA is a fraternal benefit society.  As such, each new member under age 16 will recieve a life insurance policy from Sokol USA at no extra charge!  Adult policies are also available and are cost-dependant on age.
