Staff Bio - CINDY

Cindy Merker was first introduced to Sokol when she enrolled her daughter in 1996. She became more and more involved as a volunteer and by joining the Senior Women’s class. She even competed and won a medal as a gymnast for the 2013 Sokol Slet in Milwaukee! Her interest led to her joining our staff in 2010. She has since become a very knowledgeable member of the staff after having attended several coaching clinics, and most recently the American Sokol Virtual Instructors School during the summer of 2021. Cindy uses her creativity and knowledge as an instructor for the Tots and Sokolettes. She is Safe Sport and USAG Safety Certified, and trained in first aid and CPR. She has held several positions and offices at Lodge 306. She was a Bingo Captain for many years. She is currently the Financial Secretary for Lodge 306 and Recording Secretary for the Physical Fitness Staff. She has served as Lodge 306 representative to the last three Sokol USA Conventions. As if all of this weren’t enough, Cindy is the Head Cook for all of our dinners after having achieved her Kitchen Safety Certification from the City of Chicago many years ago. She also serves as the President of District L. Stur. Her interests include travelling, the Chicago Cubs, and her cat “Paprikas”. She is currently teaching Tots and Sokolettes. Sokol is extremely lucky to have someone like Cindy around.
